About MO

The mission of MO is to nurture unique emergent voices in dance by continuously investigating and investing in a practice-based curriculum that welcomes all the possible ways to dance. MO seeks to remain nimble and responsive to the evolving dance ecology, to provide meaningful facilitation of dancers’ relationship to the form so it is empowered, long-lasting and uniquely theirs. Alumni are celebrated as some of Canada’s most radical and inspired new artists producing, creating and performing in an enormous range of formats, environments and organizations.

Audition registration is now open for the MO Fall 2023-24 term. Find more information about the Intensives and Audition opportunities on our News & Events page.

MO Link provides 9 hours per week of contemporary dance development with MO educators for serious dancers ages 15-45. It provides a wide range of contemporary repertoire and dance techniques including release technique, floor work, partnering, hip hop, improvisation, and movement generation led by MO guest artists and leading professionals.

MO Link is focused on nurturing new skills and broadening experience for dancers looking to expand their understanding of contemporary dance, preparing to join post-secondary programs, looking to learn more about the MO full program and/or looking to expand their toolkit and augment their existing training regimen. Link also provides Q&As with guest artists, access to the studio to work on their own projects or practice, artistic writing development and dance directory packages, invitations to the MO Full-Program showings & open houses, and monthly Show Clubs where participants receive a recorded, full-length professional contemporary dance performance and meet once a month on Zoom for a facilitated post-show discussion.

MO Link is by invitation or application to ensure that participants have a level of strength and focus to thrive in the demands of the class material.

*If you have already attended a recent MO or OIS workshop you may not need to apply. Contact modusoperandi@outinnerspace.ca to inquire.
